Justice is served for Rupa
Tangail court has sentenced four perpetrators to death for murdering and raping Rupa Khatun, 27 years old law student. The court has also ordered seven year’s imprisonment to another man.
Last year on August 25, Rupa was raped and murdered inside a bus on the Mymensingh Highway by three attendants of the bus driver. She was thrown outside the bus on Tangail-Mymensingh road.
The prosecution is able to prove the allegation and this quick trial has set an example of justice in the history of Bangladesh.
The death row convicts are bus driver Habib Miah, 45, and his assistants Mohammad Shamim, 26, Akram, 35, and Jahangir, 20. Supervisor of the bus, Safar Ali alias, Gendu, 55, who was sleeping while the victim was raped, was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined Tk 1 lakh.
