Reproductive and maternal health care of Bangladesh

The Bangladesh government has provided considerable health and family planning services in the years since the country’s independence. As for example, the national infant mortality rate declined from 150 per 1000 live births in 1975 to 87 in 1999, one of the finding of the research “Health Systems Development Programme”. According to the World Bank, 2001,  maternal mortality rate also fell from 620 per 1000 live births in 1982 to 440 in 2000. However, this rate is considered unacceptably high.

This research paper provides an overview of existing situation of reproductive and maternal health care of Bangladesh.
