Sabina becomes Youth Ambassador of Save the Children
Sabina became the first female youth ambassador of Save the Children in Bangladesh after the contract was signed initially for one year at the BFF House Sunday with the promises to extend the deal later
Sabina Khatun, the Bangladesh women’s football team captain, has been appointed as the youth ambassador of Save the Children’s Suchana Programme in a bid to inspire the less privileged teenagers in Sylhet and Moulvibazar.
Sabina became the first female youth ambassador of Save the Children in Bangladesh after the contract was signed initially for one year at the BFF House Sunday with the promises to extend the deal later.
“We are working with around 2.5lacs people fighting with malnutrition in Sylhet and Moulvibazar. Around 1lac of them are teenage girls. We want to present Sabina as an example to them. She can be a role model and show them how a female can go far.” said Dr. Sheikh Shahed Rahman, the team leader of Suchana Programme.
Expressing gratitude to Save the Children, Sabina said, “It will be a new experience for me. Once I’m involved with this I shall give everything to work with those adolescent. It’s an achievement for me but it will also inspire other female footballers to take this role in future.”
Women’s committee chairman of Bangladesh Football Federation, Mahfuza Akter Kiran, BFF general secretary Abun Nayeem Shohag, Suchana programme project director Arif Hossain and senior officer Sheikh Ali Haider Azam were also present on the occasion.
