Workshop: Dairy Development and Women Empowerment

A day-long workshop on ‘Dairy Development and Women Empowerment’ was held recently in the city to promote dairy farming and women’s contribution to this sector.

National Forum for Development of Women Dairy Entrepreneurs, Human Development Research Centre (HDRC) and Oxfam in Bangladesh jointly organised a daylong workshop at the Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM) auditorium in the city’s capital on Saturday, Feb 4.

The research papers presented at the event were:

  1. Accessibility into Financial Institution of Marginalised Female Farmers Deployed in Milk Producing
  2. Accessibility into Expansion Service
  3. Ensuring Positive Role of Marketing Institution and Establishing Gender Sensitive Market
  4. Empowering Women Through Releasing Unevaluated Care Work and Redistributing.

Small female entrepreneurs hailed from different regions in the country also attended the workshop who raised concern about bank policies and adequate recruitment of manpower at union levels to extend services.
State Minister for Fisheries and Animal Resources Narayan Chandra Chanda was present as the chief guest at the national workshop, who assured the small entrepreneurs that his ministry would help them overcome the problems.
