Dhaka Fertility Expo-2025: The First National Conference to Tackle Infertility in Bangladesh
Dhaka is set to host the country’s first-ever national-level fertility event — Dhaka Fertility Expo 2025, aimed at bridging the significant gap in infertility care and awareness in Bangladesh. Organised by Eco Expo, this three-day event will take place from June 26 to 28, 2025, at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka, offering free entry and consultations with renowned national and international fertility experts.
A Timely Response to a Growing SRHR Crisis
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1 in 6 people worldwide experience infertility. In Bangladesh, experts estimate that over 2 million people silently endure the emotional and physical toll of infertility, often without proper diagnosis or treatment. The expo emerges as a critical intervention in the country’s under-addressed sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) landscape.
“Infertility is not a shame — it’s a medical condition, and it deserves informed, dignified care,” said organisers from Eco Expo.
“We’ve created a platform where people can receive accurate guidance, compare costs, treatment durations, and success rates — all under one roof.”
What to Expect: Knowledge, Access, and Empathy
The event promises direct access to fertility specialists and clinics from home and abroad, with facilities for free consultation, real-time evaluation, and cost-benefit comparison for treatments like IVF, IUI, ICSI, and more. Visitors can interact with doctors, explore treatment options, and even verify Islamic permissibility — a key concern for many Bangladeshi Muslim families.
Referencing a 1980 fatwa by Al-Azhar University, the organisers highlighted that infertility treatments like IVF and IUI are Halal, provided they remain within the bounds of marriage. This religious reassurance aims to break longstanding taboos.
A Human-Centered Approach
Behind the glossy event branding lies a deep, research-backed understanding of the mental distress and stigma infertile couples face.
“People are suffering in silence. But all they really need is proper knowledge and the right treatment,” said one of the key organisers.
The event also places strong emphasis on lifestyle awareness, advocating for healthier daily habits — such as regular sleep, exercise, and stress reduction — to improve reproductive health outcomes.
Moving Forward
While Bangladesh has made considerable strides in healthcare, infertility treatment remains underdeveloped due to a lack of accredited labs, trained specialists, and modern infrastructure. The Dhaka Fertility Expo is a hopeful step toward changing that narrative.
In the words of Eco Expo: “You may not need to travel abroad and spend a fortune. The right answers, right here, can change lives.”
