About the organisation

1. Background of the Organization (SAPLA):

Bangladesh is most density country in the world. Where live in 1150 persons per KM and also Bangladesh is extremely vulnerable to the impact of climate change. Thus, Bangladesh's economic activities may hinder because of direct impact on production, supply chain and market disruption as well as impact on firms and financial markets, Financial sector, specifically the banking sector in Bangladesh, can be the most affected sector and Bangladesh 's remittances is likely to slow sown. SAPLA is a registered national NGO operational mainly in rural area of Natore District under Rajshahi Division. After liberation and subsequent decade Bangladesh faces many political & social adversities when natural calamities also stroked repeatedly; numerous crises captured the whole country and illiterate poor people were the main victims of those circumstances. Natore district particularly Natore Sadar, Baraigram and Gurudaspur Upazila was seriously affected by that socio-economic panic with hunger & poverty. Specially plan land aboriginal people and women flock were more humiliating and oppressing in every aspects. The opportunists and money-lenders took chance of vulnerability; they started exploiting the poor by lending money with high interest rate (25% per month). As a result, destitution, landless-poor and marginalization went up to 80% out of total population in that area. To help develop socio-economic condition of local area, few young, committed persons came forward with their limited resources and initiated Social Advancement for People’s Liberation Agency (SAPLA– initially named KGUK(Karbala Gram Unnayan Kendro) in 1983 which subsequently registered with Department of Social Service (1985), NGO Affairs Bureau (1989) and Micro-Credit Regulatory Authority (2008). The vision and core believes of SAPLA is Total Human Development and rendering services to the needy people towards sustainable progress. The mission of the organization is to establish people’s organization through building awareness, socio-economic advancement, gender equality and women’s empowerment, enabling local resource & facilities including recent e-Government services to rural people.

3. Vision:
The vision and core believes of SAPLA is Total (Spiritual, Mental, Social and Physical) Human Development and rendering services to the poor, marginalized people, climate change & disaster victims for establishment of social justice & freedom towards sustainable progress.

4. Mission:
The main mission of SAPLA is Formation of people’s organization through skill & awareness building and socio-economic empowerment in order to attain self-reliance by socio-cultural-political and economical development activities.

5.Objectives: (Major objectives of SAPLA)

• To organize the target people under small homogeneous groups and create greater unity (union federation) so they can change their socio-economic condition together by themselves;
• To eradicate the social taboos and barriers to develop and create employment opportunity for women to establish their rights and dignity; also addressing & rehabilitating most neglected section (disabled, aged persons, etc.) of the society;
• To reduce early marriage by changing traditional customs & codes of the society; to make aware common people about bad consequences of early marriage;
• To help remove illiteracy from underprivileged people of the society; assist group members & common people for availing better healthcare and also ensure WASH for all;
• To provide vocational skills and facilitate group members with 'micro-credit' loans for developing self-employments or small entrepreneurship;
• To promote food security services through ensuring proper use of land and increasing food production by agricultural extension services;
• To promote healthy environment and protect natural & man-made calamity by undertaking eco-friendly programs; also attain DRR programs;

It is a non- profitable , Non–political and Secular Humanism Development Organization.
