Youth Share-Net Bangladesh has launched the “Knowledge Into Action: SRHR Campus Conversation Series” to engage youth and adolescents in open discussions on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

Supported by Amplify Change and hosted by RedOrange Communications, the series creates safe spaces for dialogue, linking SRHR with broader issues like climate change, gender, and policy.

In 2025, Bangladesh’s population stood at 175.7 million, and two-thirds—about 115 million people—are of working age, which opens a window to reap the much-talked-about demographic dividend. Even more striking: roughly 33 million are adolescents (about 19% of the population), and nearly 50 million are aged 10–24—around 28%.

Yet, despite this promising youth bulge, the UNFPA’s State of World Population 2025 (SWOP 2025) report shows that many young people in Bangladesh—especially girls—struggle to access the sexual and reproductive health services they need. The real crisis isn’t about population numbers. It’s about reproductive agency—the ability to choose if, when, and how to build a family.

SWOP 2025 warns that systemic, economic, and social barriers still keep women and young people from making informed choices about their bodies and their futures. In many parts of the country, access to family planning, contraception, quality sexual education, and respectful services remains limited.

That’s why initiating “Knowledge Into Action: The SRHR Campus Conversation Series” is more important than ever. This new initiative will bring these critical issues into a space where they belong: with students and youth on campus. The first seminar, held at Jahangirnagar University’s Department of International Relations, created an open room for discussions around how climate change, gender, and policy connect to sexual and reproductive health and rights.

By giving young people a voice and a seat at the table, Share-Net is helping bridge the gap between knowledge and real-world change. Students get to hear from experts, ask tough questions, and understand the stakes—not just for their bodies, but for their futures and their communities.

When you look at the data—millions of youth, yet limited access to reproductive services—the urgency becomes clear. The campus series is more than an event—they are spaces of empowerment, where the next generation can own their choices, demand better policies, and help build a Bangladesh where reproductive agency is a right, not a luxury.
