About the organisation

The social system was and continues to be deadly for a lot of people living in the Indian subcontinent. So many people living in of Bangladesh have been victims of this cruel system. Discrimination and oppression are still going on against them and they have great difficulties in having access to local resources. They are still marginalized from the greater society and are extremely poor, illiterate, landless, rights less’, underdeveloped and frustrated. Their life is still full of agony and distress. The national policy makers have constantly overlooked their situation and even NGOs have not come up with a plan for these groups of people.

At 1980-1990 Some dalit young men and women belonging to these backward groups living in the South Western coastal region of Satkhira, Khulna and Jessore have been able to get a certain degree of education. They have also been able to get aware of their own people’s miserable situation and have understood that trying to change and improve it is now their duty and responsibility.
In 1993 a group of dalit student by born a “Dalit Students Association”, The new name was called ‘Parittran’. The meaning of this Bengali word is ‘Liberation or Salvation.’ Parittran is a movement, for the Dalits and by the dalits. PARITTRAN, a non-government organization, is the first dalit social action group in Bangladesh working for the empowerment of Dalit communities. PARITTRAN, promote towards strengthening the Dalit Movement, through increasing their voices, capacities, realization of their fundamental rights and demand-driven institutional responsiveness. Parittran believes in equal rights of all human beings and therefore, is working for upholding the dignity of socially excluded people. Parittran is dedicated to mainstreaming gender in its operation in terms of participation, capacity and programmatic focus. Parittran is committed towards building a strong line of leadership for the dalit movement and human rights.
Parittran is dedicated to building the capacities of our people through progress reviews and Education support, Mass awareness campaign, Developed IEC Materials, Developed video documentary film on the dalits life and show, Evidence based lobby and advocacy Meeting, Fact findings on the HR violence of dalits, Media campaign workshops that are conducted periodically. Additionally the aim is to build skills through accounts, legal aid and Dalit women leadership workshops as well as cluster level meetings.
In the long term working we have achieved at community, state, institutional level which indicated the sustainable changes of dalit’s in Bangladesh. Such as; Govt. has amended a dalit development policy, 80% quota in cleaning job for sweeper community and declaration for special quota for other dalits unemployed youth. 1.0% reservation in Dhaka University for admit in higher education for dalits student, National human right commission, civil society ogranization and Law commission under taken initiative to drafting anti discriminatory law. There ae 54 district committee of Bangladesh Dalit Parishad (national level dalit right based independent platform), 7 divisional committee and 1 central committee has been developed and nurtured by Parittran.
Management Structure:
General Body: GB is the supreme authority of the organization. GB is consisting a total of 29 members. Parittran operates through a General Body (policy makers) and an Executive Board (decision makers). The GB at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) makes organizational policies, approves annual budget/project budget and audit, appoints auditors and elects the Executive Board.

Executive Board: Parittran has an active and supportive Executive Board. The EB is consisting a total of 9 member among the GB who are elected for 2 years. The EB members have a stake in the administrative and financial affairs, besides policymaking and strategic management, which ensures financial transparency and accountability of the organization. The EB approves and reviews the projects and annual plan. The Board guides the Executive Director for smooth and proper implementation of program.

Program Management Team: Program Management Team is a senior management team who are responsible for program operation and quality control of the organization. Executive Director of Parittran is a head of the team and supervise the team members roles and responsibility. All of the departmental head are the member of the Program Management Team. Each month they conduct a meeting and take decision to smooth run the program and project of Parittran.

SRHR publications/research

Organize Intergenerational dialogue at community level:
On 08.12.2020, 13.12.2020 and 14.12.2020 Three meetings arrange the upzilla level Administrative officers, priests, imams, religious leaders, journalists, teachers, development workers, leaders of social and cultural organizations at Shyamnagar in Satkhira, Keshabpur in Jashore and Khulna Koyra The International Dialogue on Reproductive Health, Sexual Harassment, Gender Based Violence and Prevention of Child Marriage has been implemented in the presence of public representatives, health workers, parents, YSBD members and representatives of Salvation.
Orientation on SRHR and SGBV for the Parents at community level:
Reproductive Health, Adolescence, Child Marriage, Child Marriage Law and Punishment with Parents of Dalit, Advise and Aila Affected Children in Shyamnagar, Koyra and Keshabpur Upazila on 15-16, 18-17, 18-19 December 2020 , Orientation on Adolescent Pregnancy, Pregnancy Risk Prevention, HIV / AIDS, Adolescent Friendly Health Care Center, Importance of Balanced Diet in Adolescence, Official Toll Free Number is implemented. In the training, parents in their respective upazila have gained a positive outlook on reproductive health which has opened a new chapter in the transformation of their personal, family and social lives.

Parents to parents sharing meeting:
22 trained guardians of SRHR two day orientation between 18-20 December 2020 with 220 guardians of Dalit, Munda and Aila affected children in three upazilas at the village level Reproductive and Reproductive Health, Adolescence, Child Marriage, Child Marriage Law and Punishment Exchange meetings were held on age pregnancy, risk of pregnancy, HIV / AIDS, adolescent friendly health care center, importance of balanced diet in adolescence, official toll free number. In exchange for their views, village level parents in their respective upazilas have gained a positive outlook on reproductive health which has opened a new chapter in the transformation of their personal, family and social lives.
