About the organisation

RedOrange plays a leading role in establishing networks and building capacity in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights in Bangladesh. The organisation is a catalyst, connecting individuals, government, NGOs, civil society and media, building capacity through training, increasing knowledge and awareness through effective communication and knowledge management tools, reaching large target audiences. RedOrange is an experienced partner in networking for social change; advocacy, raising awareness, initiating dialogues towards policy change and media involvement. One of our projects ‘Share-Net Bangladesh’ makes existing knowledge on sexual and reproductive health and rights available for a large group of practitioners. Knowledge includes academic research, field experience, project findings, policy papers, thematic dialogues, advocacy events and useful tools. Share-Net Bangladesh has a strong focus on knowledge relevant to the country and is part of the international network Share-Net International. The project Ritu improves menstrual hygiene among schoolgirls. The school campaign reaches thousands of schoolgirls with correct, practical information, while encouraging a positive attitude among schoolboys and teaching teachers how to support girls to deal with their menstruation. Ritu raises awareness among school boards and provides information on how to make schools girl friendly and increase sanitation. Furthermore, Ritu breaks the taboo on menstruation nationwide by airing the first ever infotainment TV series in the country on this very sensitive subject. RedOrange has a strong network among the media; 4 national tv channels broadcasted the TV series. The project IMAGE Plus empowers young girls who have been married off, to break their isolation, go back to school, use birth control and take part in decisions regarding their health and life. RedOrange develops training material and trains the trainers, implements awareness campaigns, teaches journalists on the subject and organises seminars to strengthen advocacy. RedOrange produces IEC material, audio video material, animations and branding material for partners and projects on sexual and reproductive health and rights. Examples are documentaries and tools for behaviour change: the short documentary ‘Living with your Period’ was developed for the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, to be used among their SRHR partners. RedOrange developed a package of tools for behaviour change on menstrual hygiene for Plan UK. RedOrange has a strong network among the media as well as the government. Government engagement was ensured in policy dialogues through the active participation of state ministers in both IMAGE and Ritu in launching events and dedicated talk shows. The Ritu infotainment TV series is aired on 4 national tv channels and supported by the government.
The STITCH project stands for “SRHR Tailor-made Information and Training to Contribute to Occupational Health and safety conditions of factory workers in the Ready-Made Garment Sector in Bangladesh”. The project aims to ensure a respectable work environment for workers in the ready-made garment sector by integrating Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) information and services. The STITCH project takes a comprehensive approach to co-design and deliver tailor-made information and training to future RMG workers, mid-level and top-level managers, and health care providers.
The project is part of the Orange Knowledge Programme which is funded by the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and coordinated by Nuffic.
