The Women with Disabilities Development Foundation (WDDF) is a rights-based organisation established by, for, and of women with disabilities (WWDs) in Bangladesh. Since its inception, WDDF has been working to ensure the fundamental human rights of women with disabilities and to eliminate all forms of discrimination against them.
Founded in 2007 by a group of visionary women leaders with disabilities, WDDF was born from the belief that women with disabilities are not alone. Together, through unity, resilience, and continuous efforts, they can contribute to building an inclusive, rights-based, and non-discriminatory society. The organisation focuses on empowerment as the key to meaningful participation, ensuring that women with disabilities are recognised not only as beneficiaries but also as active agents of change in social, economic, and political spheres.
Vision
WDDF envisions a Bangladesh where women with disabilities live with dignity, equality, and independence. In this vision, all women with disabilities are empowered to participate in the development of the nation. By breaking barriers and creating opportunities, they achieve economic independence and contribute at both national and international levels. WDDF strives for a future where success stories of women with disabilities expand across all sectors, setting examples of resilience and achievement in a barrier-free environment.
Mission
The mission of WDDF is to create a society free from discrimination where women with disabilities can live with equal dignity and rights. The organisation works to establish equal opportunities and full participation in every sphere of life—social, educational, economic, cultural, and political. WDDF is committed to supporting women with disabilities in their journey of empowerment, enrichment, and active involvement in development processes. By promoting self-reliance, leadership, and advocacy, WDDF aims to ensure that women with disabilities are not excluded but are instead central to building an inclusive and just Bangladesh.
WDDF is not only an organisation but also a movement led by women with disabilities themselves. It stands as a platform for collective voice, empowerment, and transformation—working relentlessly to break down barriers, change perceptions, and guarantee that women with disabilities are equally recognised as contributors to national progress.
