Child Marriage and Death
When parents marry off their adolescent girls, knowingly or unknowingly they push them in the mouth of death. At an age when girls are supposed to go to school with bags on their shoulders, marriage burdens the same shoulders with the weight of household work and family responsibilities. In this video by Image PLUS, an adolescent girl’s parents marry her off to an older man. She is later tortured and forced to do household chores. Soon, she gets pregnant and loses her life. According to World Health Organisation, complications during pregnancy and childbirth are the leading cause of death for 15 to 19 year olds globally.
The video rewinds the life of the girl to show that her parents’ decision to let her continue with education can save her from a tragic ending. Unfortunately, we cannot go backwards in our life to undo a wrong decision.This video will serve as a wake up call to parents who are unaware of the deadly consequences of child marriage.
