Education and IGA: Opportunities and Challenges for Early Married Girls

Concerted efforts by the government, NGOs and the society can largely reduce early marriage and help its victims make a comeback and lead a prosperous life, said experts and stakeholders in the roundtable discussion hosted by Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday, October 24th.

The roundtable titled ‘Education and IGA: Opportunities and Challenges for Early Married Girls’ was organised by IMAGE Plus, a project that works to ensure basic rights including sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) including family planning, MCH (mother and child health), nutrition, education, IGA (income generating activities) and GBV (gender-based violence) of early married girls in Bangladesh.

The IMAGE Plus project is funded by the Dutch Embassy and led by Terre Des Hommes Netherlands RedOrange Media and Communications works as strategic partner for the program. Terre des hommes Foundation (Kurigram), SKS Foundation (Gaibandha), and Pollisree (Nilphamari) are implementing partners, while Dhaka Tribune is one of the media partners of the project.
