Is violence against women reducing in Bangladesh?

25th November is observed as the International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women throughout the world. However, in Bangladesh, the figures of incidents related to violence against women is not reducing. According to the Ain O Salish Kendra based on media reports, last year 1,648 women faced different forms of violence- rape, domestic abuse, abuse on domestic workers, dowry related abuse, acid attacks and assault unleashed by salish (village arbitration).  255 men and women have either been attacked or killed for protesting sexual harassment on women. The real number of incidents are much higher as they go unreported.
