Sex education will help reduce gender inequality, said Dr. Dipu Moni

While speaking at the National Workshop on Generation Breakthrough Project (Phase II) at the International Mother Language Institute auditorium on 7 September, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said one of the most important factors for better physical and mental health is knowing about sexual and reproductive rights.
The minister also said that if correct information can be made available to teenagers, they can be kept away from many problems. She even added that sexual and reproductive health awareness allows people to take decisions together through mutual respect rather than imposing decisions on each other.
The education minister urged those involved with the Generation Breakthrough Project to share their learning experience to make more people aware of sexual and reproductive health. She added that many people are unaware of teenagers’ mental and physical changes. At the same time, given the lack of resources, they come by a great deal of misinformation affecting their present and future.
