Success story: Girl who escaped child marriage

May Yoi Ching Marma, 19, lives in a remote, indigenous village in the Chittagong hill tracts. Living in a poor and male-dominated community, she had never chance to go to school and had educations.

Ikea Foundation funded an education project, run by Save the Children in May Yoi’s village has changed her life. She is now a skilled tailor and she designs, makes and sells clothes to people in her village and also teaches sewing other girls in her community.

She has escaped from child marriage and now she is happily married. Unlike many other girls in her community, she is capable of support her family financially.
