Unheard stories of marginalized women

The judicial system plays an important role in enforcing women’s rights. However, in Bangladesh, legal retainer fees are too high even for the middle class people. Therefore, hundreds or thousands of poor women are excluded from the protection from the laws, says Ilina Faruque, Juris Doctor and Attorney at Law, California, USA.

These marginalized women are hardly being heard and their problems are barely being highlighted in the public and to the courts. These women are victims of not only gender based violence but also class and wealth discrimination. Yet, their stories are being ignored and drowned out.
