Online learning sharing event of RITU Sustainability Study

For the sustainability ground of RITU project, Dhaka University recently conducted a qualitative study with the support of Simavi and BNPS. To share the study findings and develop future strategy, Simavi and BNPS organized an Online learning sharing event on the 15th of April 2021 from 11am to 12.30pm. The event was basically a dissemination meeting of the RITU Sustainability Study which took place online on Zoom.

The Ritu programme aimed to improve menstrual health of girls between 10 and 15 years old in Bangladesh. The programme combined a set of direct interventions at schools and communities in Netrakona district, with national level advocacy and (social) media campaigns by BNPS, DORP, Red Orange with support from Simavi and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN). The project has been implemented during November 2015 to March 2020.

The two main interventions at schools were to train teachers to provide menstrual health education as part of their lesson plans and to work with schools to access Government budget to realize girls-friendly toilets. Head teachers, teachers, School Management Committees, students and Government Education Officers were all engaged in the implementation of the school activities and we organized training, developed tools, and hand-over sessions for them to continue the activities beyond the project period.
