  • Provide assistance to the preparation of periodical and annual reports, Newsletter etc.
  • Effective coordination with MOHFW, DGHS, DGFP, project partners, developmental partners, regarding policy, planning, Funding and other program related issues.
  • Organizing workshop, seminar, advocacy meeting at districts involving policy makers, key personalities in the Ministry, Directorates, Development partners etc.
  • Implementing and managing changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved.
  • Ability to generate quality project reports.
  • Carry out any other responsibility / activity assigned by the Authority.

Within UNDP, the Resilience and Inclusive Growth Portfolio leads its programme and policy advisory support in climate change mitigation and adaptation; urban poverty and urbanization; social protection; disaster management and environmental sustainability, with a key focus on gender. We support the country by providing high-quality policy advice, mobilizing resources, developing capacity; knowledge management and innovation, and fostering south-south cooperation. The Intern position is created as an additional support to the programme and project to manage their programmatic activities in the Resilience and Inclusive Growth portfolio. The portfolio is fastest growing in terms of its scale and size and is comprised of top-level experts who lead respective thematic areas and oversee UNDP’s project implementation. The position Research Assistant is created to support the Programme Leaders in managing their programme which include planning and reporting; background research, project formulation, and communication. The position will be reported to the respective project managers and programme specialists.
Duties and Responsibilities
Summary of Key Functions: Under the supervision of the Programme Specialist (Environmental Sustainability & Energy) or Project Manager of the relevant project, the Intern will assist in conducting research, compilation and collation of information and data, management of the event, supporting project operation, support in accounting and finance and support communication activities for UNDP R&IG cluster. S/he will support project/program management team in achieving daily targets of operation. The intern will be placed to project or country office based on their academic background and academic interest. Support in project formulation:
  • Drafting of project concept notes, presentations and other documents;
  • Managing appointments and coordinating with external contributors and agencies;
  • Draft ToRs, support recruitment, and procurement of consultants, project staffs and coordinate consultants when needed;
  • Support in conducting various project relevant mission;
Assist in conducting and coordinating project relevant research:
  • Review of literature and relevant document relevant to the program;
  • Collection and collation of primary and secondary data and information and analysis;
  • Develop bibliographies, including preparation of citation and reference;
  • Transcribing and translating interviews;
  • Keeping a record of all relevant research and relevant documents.
Support to coordinate various media and advocacy initiative to assure understanding and visibility of the project.
  • Support for responding to requests for information by facilitating access to relevant UNDP materials.
  • Support to organize awareness, advocacy, and result sharing/dissemination events, exposure visits, etc.;
  • Regularly monitor and keep an overview on for national and environmental sustainability, ecosystem management, and environmental governance innovations;

  • Support in preparation of budget and support in liquidation of expenditure for various events.
Support in overall administrative and financial matters
  • Assist the Programme Specialist/PM in the overall administrative and financial matters of the project/programme;
  • Support in administrative (contractual, organizational and logistical) and accounting (disbursements, record-keeping, cash management) matters under the project;
  • Provide general administrative and financial support to the project so as to ensure the smooth running of the project management unit; provide logistical support to the project staff and consultants in conducting different project activities;
  • Support monitoring the budget expenditures by preparing payment documents, and compiling financial reports; maintain the project’s disbursement ledger and journal; keep files with project documents, expert reports; control the usage of non-expendable equipment (record keeping, drawing up regular inventories);
  • Draft and finalize correspondence of administrative nature; arrange duty travel; fax, post, and e-mail transmissions, and coordinate appointments.

Qualification Requirements:
  • Enrollment in a graduate-level degree programme in Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Environmental Sciences/Management, Engineering, Biological Science, Geography, Sociology, etc.; Only those students who will return to their studies upon completion of their internship assignments are eligible.   • Outstanding academic credentials at the undergraduate level;

  • The main purpose of this position is to lead the development of the gender inclusion approach for the project Gender Inclusive Pathways from Poverty for Vulnerable Household in Cox`s bazar and ensure gender inclusion within the model. This project will target the host community ultra-poor in Teknaf and Ukhia sub-districts in Cox Bazar, Bangladesh. This proposed 5-year project aims to improve resilience and well-being of 5,458 ultra-poor households in the host communities of Cox Bazar. The project will pilot a gender inclusive Ultra-Poor Graduation Model, targeted and adapted to the critical emergency situation, where disaster risk reduction (DRR) and child protection considerations are critical to ensuring that the ultra-poor have a sustainable pathway out of poverty.
  • The successful candidate will ensure the quality of the implementation of the gender Inclusive economic development interventions and support project officers & facilitators in programme implementation.
  • The position will develop and implement a capacity building plan for project staff, partners and stakeholders. He/she will be responsible for identifying key strategic partners for implementation of the project and sharing learning and best practices with relevant stakeholders.
  • This position will maintain strong and regular external engagement with Economic Development and Gender stakeholders in the project areas - the two upazilas of Ukhiya and Teknaf under Cox`s Bazar district.
Job Responsibilities
  • This person will Lead the gender strategy for this ultra-poor graduation project.
  • Provide technical oversight of any gender related analysis, including the gender sensitive market assessment to inform the livelihood selection for this project.
  • Ensure staff and facilitators of upazila level implementing partner organizations are following the agreed gender inclusion strategic approach, relevant standards and implementing gender focused economic program and gender related other activities as per plan/design.

Job Context
  • Following the massive displacement of more than 688,000 people into Bangladesh since end of August 2017, Tdh has put in place an important emergency response plan to provide relief to the Rohingya refugees, notably on health, WASH and protection. For the protection component this includes: psychosocial support activities in CFSs and with Mobile Teams, Case Management & Alternative Care and Capacity Building in the mega camp in Kutupalong. Due to the growing needs, Tdh are looking to expand our CP activities to the smaller camps in Teknaf Upazila and we are looking to recruit a Case Management Coordinator who will focus on project set up and implementation in our new areas of intervention. Activities would include targeted Case Management services to the most vulnerable children, including children affected by family separation., Alternative Care and a Rapid Response component.
  • The CM Coordinator is responsible for supervising the delivery of quality case management services for vulnerable children in need of protection in refugee camps in Cox Bazar, Bangladesh. Children supported include unaccompanied and separated children, children at risk of and/or exposed to violence, neglect, exploitation, early marriage, trafficking or sexual and gender based violence.
Job Responsibilities
  • Key responsibilities :
  • Development and supervision of a case management response for refugee children in need of protection
  • In collaboration with the project manager coordinate and supervise the child protection case management programme by planning, monitoring and evaluating project activities in accordance with grant agreements and Tdh quality standards;
  • Ensure the best use of resources and support the project manager in the preparation of sound budgets and monitoring project expenses on an on-going basis;
  • Ensure the child protection case management programme implemented by Tdh field teams is consistent with and aligned with the National CP system and adheres to the leading inter-agency standardized operating procedures and tools (CPMS, CM guidance);
  • Provide daily mentoring and case management supervision to the case management team leaders in all the project locations, in collaboration with the Case Management Junior Project Officer (JPO);
  • Stay up-to-date on all high-risk cases and provide daily or weekly supervision to Team Leaders as required;
  • With support from the case management project manager, ensure the daily and weekly use of work plans, case trackers and other case management tools;
  • Regularly get updated information on all services available for children in need of support and ensure this information is available to team leaders;
  • Coordinate effectively with external partners in the referral pathway to ensure team leaders and case workers have the contacts they need in their working areas, ensure referrals are tracked and followed-up on;
  • Support Team Leaders to update the Team Leader Trackers and contribute to the maintenance of master Case Management database;
  • When required prepare reports, according to the project document (monthly reports, quarterly reports, donor reports, final report);
  • Ensure appropriate information management protocol is in place, particularly in terms of confidentiality of data (including, paper and electronic files);
  • Represent Tdh in field base multi-agency and overall interagency cluster where appropriate;
  • Ensure regular communication with the line manager on activities' updates, achievements and challenges via meetings, reports and ad hoc communication upon request and needs;

  • Identify needs and draft capacity building plan for staffers under direct supervision;
  • Support project manager in planning, developing and delivering full team capacity building sessions on case management for the case management team, and ensure that the capacity building plan is revised on a regular basis to include refresher training's and workshops;
  • Organize weekly Case Management meetings and takes minutes, support Team Leaders in weekly meetings with Case Workers, monthly supervision with Team Leaders;
  • Follow up staff attendances, leaves and provide monthly attendance sheets to her/his manager to facilitate payroll process;
  • Ensure regular feedback to the staff under her/his responsibility and appraisal process when needed; Support disciplinary measures application if needed
  • Coordination and representation
  • Conduct regular field visits and organize regular staff meetings in field locations;
  • With support from the Project Manager coordinate with other Tdh sectors to ensure mainstreaming and implementation of standardized activities;
  • Liaise with humanitarian actors, authorities and community in and outside the camps to increase quality and effectiveness of case-management service provision;
  • Participate in meetings held at local or regional level in her/his field of expertise whenever pertinent and necessary;
  • Build the relationship between and establish regular exchanges with the Psychosocial Support (PSS) Team to ensure children in need of protection are identified timely and adequately supported;
  • Develop and maintain a strong professional image for Tdh CP Case Management through effective communication with all partners

  Background

About the Portfolio/Programme/Project: The 2030 Agenda sets out a historic and unprecedented level of ambition to “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls by 2030” (SDG 5) as well as including 37 gender-related targets in 10 other SDGs. To successfully track the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, a robust and equally ambitious monitoring framework is essential to be established. Also, Significant investment in gender statistics is necessary to ensure that evidence-based policies are devised, the impacts of these policies are assessed and the accountability of policymakers and governments to deliver on these commitments is promoted. The demand for gender statistics has been increasingly recognized in Bangladesh as essential to monitor the progress of countries 7th Five Year Plan and SDGs. The National Women Development Policy and the 7th Five Year Plan prioritized the need of high quality data in a timely fashion by strengthen the capacity and scope of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics. The country has produced its National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS) which needs to be implemented with greater effort by 2021. There are gaps in financing for the data collection and capacity constrains to generate gender statistics at the National Statistical Office, much of the available gender statistics are descriptive in nature, produced in a sporadic manner, without analytical information on the impact made by sectoral plans and programmes in terms of changing the conditions that cause gender inequality. Given financial as well as technical constraint the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics has taken initiatives to strengthen the institutional mechanism and established a gender cell at Statistical and Informatics Division. With financial support from the Government of Australia UN Women Bangladesh Country Office is implementing the” Making Every Women and Girl Count” program aimed at Improving the availability, accessibility and use of quality gender statistics to inform policy, advocacy and accountability for delivering gender equality and women’s empowerment commitments in the SDGs, CEDAW, the Beijing Platform for Action and other national priorities. The program  has three objectives: (i) Promoting an enabling environment by putting in place a supportive and well-coordinated policy environment to ensure gender-responsive localization and effective monitoring of the SDGs; (ii) Increasing data production by removing technical barriers and constraints to ensure that quality, comparable and regular gender statistics are produced to monitor the implementation of national policies and meet reporting commitments under the SDGs; and (iii) Improving data accessibility by ensuring that the data produced are widely available and used effectively by different players with sufficient capacities to understand, analyse and use them to inform advocacy, research, policies and programmes and to monitor progress on the SDGs. Under the framework of Support to the Government of Bangladesh, UN Women is partnering with the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics and other Ministries, Departments and Agencies to implement this programme under three Phases.   Duties and Responsibilities

  • Violent events in Rakhine State of Myanmar, starting in August 2017, led to the displacement of 615`000 Rohingya men, women and children towards Cox`s Bazar district in Bangladesh. The mass and speed of the displacement created an acute humanitarian crisis. People arrived with very little belongings and all basic needs are to be met. Beyond water, sanitation, shelter, food and health, protection is an important issue to address notably when it comes to children: they potentially suffered the most from the dramatic events which happened in Myanmar and during the cross-border journey to Bangladesh and they are now the most vulnerable in the refugee camps where living conditions are particularly harsh. The displaced population counts 28% of children between 5 and 17 years old (14% each per gender). There is potentially - adding the refugees already leaving in the area before the crisis (212`518) - a population of 231`700 individuals which need to be supported.
  • In response to this humanitarian crisis, Tdh seeks to deliver integrated services and support to children in Cox Bazar through provisions of psychosocial support to refugee children, youth and adults and targeted child protection services to the most vulnerable children, including children affected by family separation.
  • The CM Coordinator is responsible for supervising the delivery of quality case management services for vulnerable children in need of protection in refugee camps in Cox Bazar, Bangladesh. Children supported include unaccompanied and separated children, children at risk of and/or exposed to violence, neglect, exploitation, early marriage, trafficking or sexual and gender-based violence.
Job Responsibilities
  • Key responsibilities :
  • Development and supervision of a case management response for refugee children in need of protection
  • In collaboration with the project manager coordinate and supervise the child protection case management programme by planning, monitoring and evaluating project activities in accordance with grant agreements and Tdh quality standards;
  • Ensure the best use of resources and support the project manager in the preparation of sound budgets and monitoring project expenses on an on-going basis;

  • Liaise with humanitarian actors, authorities and community in and outside the camps to increase quality and effectiveness of case-management service provision;
  • Participate in meetings held at local or regional level in her/his field of expertise whenever pertinent and necessary;
  • Build the relationship between and establish regular exchanges with the Psychosocial Support (PSS) Team to ensure children in need of protection are identified timely and adequately supported;

  • Ensure the most vulnerable and marginalized populations are represented across all project components, including as staff members, project participants, trainers, facilitators, speakers, evaluators, and so forth. These can include indigenous persons; lesbian, gay, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) persons; and persons with disabilities. Understanding that girls and women tend to experience more marginalization and increased vulnerability within these groups, emphasis will be placed on this population.
